Acid Rain
|
 |
|
 |
|
No matter what season it is Acid rain is always
a problem. Air borne pollutants are trapped in rainfall,
snowflakes even morning dew. This contaminated water comes to rest
on the car surface or is splashed up from a puddle. When the sun
heats the surface of the car it evaporates the water leaving
behind a concentrated sulfuric and nitric acids that will etch the
painted surfaces. The best protection against acid rain is wash
your car frequently especially after a rain or snow storm and
apply a quality hand wax every three months. (Good rule of thumb -
when you change your oil, hand wax your car). Automobile
manufactures have recognized the seriousness of the problem, you
may have noticed new automobiles in car lots or on trucks that
have a white cover on the hoods, trunks and roofs, this is to
protect the cars from acid rain and it effects. |

Winter
|
 |
|
 |
|
During the winter is important to remove salt
and sand from your car. Salt used to melt ice and snow from
roadways accelerates the oxidation process better known as rust.
The salt and sand can act as abrasives against your cars finish
dulling it. Don't forget about keeping the interior cleaned.
Ground in salt and dirt can crush carpet fibers, discoloring them
and wear them out prematurely. |

Spring
|
 |
|
 |
|
During the spring many people do a "Spring
Clean", the same should go for taking car of your car. Washing
your car will remove the dirt and sludge that has built up on your
car from the winter, both inside and out. Having the car washed
and waxed regularly will also help prepare and protect the car's
finish from the heat waves of summer. Bugs, tree sap and road tar
are especially prevalent this time of year. Each of these items
can damage the finish of your car. Washing alone will not usually
remove road tar or tree sap but we are able to remove it in our
Express Detailing centers, (please see a manager for a quote).
Having a solid layer of wax protection on your car's finish will
help slow down the damage caused by road tar, tree sap and bugs. |

Summer
|
 |
|
 |
|
During the summer season birds and bugs bombard
your car. The searing heat of the sun as well as the engine
temperature bakes bird droppings and bug remnants left on your
car. These factors can accelerate the damage done by the acids
left behind by birds and bugs. You protect your skin from harmful
UV rays in the summer by using sunscreen, consider washing and
waxing your car in the summer a type of sunscreen for your car.
The exterior of your car is not the only surface that feels the
extreme effects of the sun. The interior vinyl, plastic or leather
portions such as dashboards, seats and door panels can reach
extreme temperatures. These temperatures can dry out interior
vinyl; leather and plastic making them look dull or even drying
them out to the point of those areas becoming brittle and
cracking. Consider treating the plastic, leather and vinyl with
our interior protectant that moisturizes and protects the interior
from the harmful UV rays. |

Fall
|
 |
|
 |
|
During the fall it is equally important to wash
your car. We inevitably have an "Indian Summer" which brings out
the last of the bugs and birds. Removing their last remnants is
very important to prolonging the life of your car's paint. This is
a great time to have your car hand waxed to protect it from the
effects of winter. |
